Yoo Ah In admits to most drug offenses when he leaves court when someone throws a bottle at him
For several months, actor Yoo Ah In has been the focus of a drug investigation.
In early February 2023, he was first suspected of drug use after returning from a trip to the United States.
After investigation and analysis, not one but five different drugs (ketamine, marijuana, propofol, zolpidem and cocaine) were found in his body, shocking Koreans.
The investigation was not without its difficulties, as the actor refused to report to the police. He finally surfaced on March 27, 50 days after the investigation began.
On May 19, the police issued an arrest warrant for Yoo Ah In and his acquaintance “A” on the grounds that they could destroy the evidence.
What worried investigators was the fact that the actor had not provided his real address for the investigation, and thus likely withheld evidence.
In addition, Yoo Ah In allegedly tried to get “A” to flee abroad, which provided another reason for his arrest warrant.
It has been confirmed that Yoo Ah In’s attempt to help “A” escape failed.
On May 24, Yoo Ah In appeared before the Seoul Central District Court to take part in an interrogation to determine whether or not the court would grant the police arrest warrant application.
Before entering the courtroom, Yoo told the media: “I will faithfully cooperate with the remaining processes and disclose all I can.” I’m sorry
[d’avoir consommé de la d.rogue]. I don’t think I can make that decision [s’il doit être arrêté]. I respect the court’s decision and am grateful. »
The court said Yoo admitted most of the charges against him and most of the evidence had already been gathered. An arrest warrant was therefore not required.
“Yoo regrets smoking marijuana and the charges of cocaine use are still controversial.” said the court. “It is difficult to conclude that there are fears [Yoo] leak or destroy evidence. »
Yoo Ah In admitted to recreational marijuana use and claimed that the use of propofol, ketamine and zolpidem, all of which can be considered sleeping pills, was for medical reasons.
However, he denied using cocaine and destroying evidence.
As he left the courtroom and headed for his car, the actor was hit by a bottle, despite his bodyguards.
The actor was shocked and turned around quickly, but his bodyguard led him to his car.
The unlocked bottle squirted what is believed to be coffee onto Yoo Ah In’s suit jacket, causing the actor’s surprise and discomfort.
According to reports, the unidentified civilian quickly left the scene, his head covered with a balaclava.
Some netizens responded with a comment:
- “It crosses the line. Don’t use violence just because you’re angry or unhappy.
- “It’s his crime and his accusations, it doesn’t give anyone the right to be so rude to him.”
- “He’s facing his sentence in court, so why would anyone outside of the case pour him coffee?”
- “He has a drug problem and needs help, not people throwing coffee at him. »
- “It was completely unnecessary, inappropriate and pathetically childish. If it were me, I’d charge the person who served the coffee with assault. »
- “You don’t have to like this guy… But don’t throw things like that at him.”
- “The guy needs help. Humans are not perfect, we are always wrong. He messed it up. He pays it. Being the target of immature people is not part of the punishment. »
- “The police used media sites to incite hatred against him – no wonder this happened. »
