May 12 at midnight in Korea, YG Entertainment unveiled the first definitive composition of BABYMONSTERhis first girl group in seven years.
The entire K-Pop industry has been eagerly awaiting to learn about the members of the girl group, who are under intense pressure to be BLACKPINK’s “little sisters.”
The agency had shocked fans by saying BABYMONSTER would debut with just five members.
After presenting seven talented trainees to the world, fans were upset that they had to say goodbye to two of them.
However, the May 12 debut announcement revealed that all seven members will be making their debuts in the next girl group.

Who are the members of BABYMONSTER?
- ahyeon
Born on April 11, 2007, Ahyeon is a singer and rapper. She is Korean and has one brother. She passed the first audition for Banana Culture Entertainment in 2017 and the YG audition in 2018.
She trained for 4 years. Ahyeon is fluent in Korean, English and Chinese. In the final judging, YG said that Ahyeon was the member with the most diverse voice.

Ruka was born on March 20th, 2002 and is the oldest member of BABYMONSTER. Ruka and Asa are the first Japanese members to make their debut in a girl group under YG Entertainment.
She is a former member of the J-pop group Shibu3 Project.
In 2018, at the age of 16, she auditioned for YG Entertainment. During training, she was praised for her strong dancing skills, which she mastered for 10 years.
Before her BABYMONSTER debut, she trained for four to five years.
- chiquita
Born on February 17, 2009, Chiquita is the maknae of the group. She is Thai and was mentored by Lisa from BLACKPINK. She has been training for almost 2 years.
His family consists of his mother (born 1981), father and an older brother (born 2006). Yang Hyun Suk sees her as the trainee with the greatest development potential.

Born on August 5, 2008, Rora is a former member of U.SSO Girl. She was part of the first generation from 2017 to 2018 along with Hyein from NewJeans.
Rora is one of the youngest members of the group. Her position in the group is singer.

Born on April 16, 2006, Asa is a natural born rapper. Asa and Ruka are the first members of Japanese nationality to make their debut in a girl group under YG Entertainment.
She started dancing at a very young age, specializing in hip-hop. She is an undeniable asset to the group.

BabyMonster will be the first group from the production house since executive producer Yang Hyun-suk regained his title after a more than three-year absence. The band plans to continue preparations for their debut next fall by presenting the activities of the group and sub-units.
