After a decade of singing on stage, there’s no doubt Jimin can sing –Really to sing. Since Jimin has the voice of an angel, some listeners were surprised by the heavy use of autotune in “Set Me Free Pt.2”.
I’m so sorry Jimin, congratulations on your solo, but it’s too autotune😭

My favorite part of the MV.
I wish they used less autotune because Jimin has a unique color to his voice. Here it shines! pic.twitter.com/iHDq1FzxB1

In order. I really didn’t appreciate the autotune office in this song 😭 I feel like it was overused to the point that Jimin’s real voice was lost in the translation and I’m a bit disappointed, ngl 🧍♀️ that is definitely not what I expected 🥹 https://t.co/qwgDWUBs55

They felt that Jimin’s real voice was “lost in translation‘ and that the use of autotune was excessive.
The autotune in Jimin’s solo is terrible

Performance-wise, set me free is visually appealing, I like the choreography, but sonically, it’s Jimin’s weakest solo song. The autotune was way too over the top, the second verse is just awful and the chorus was too empty. I like the prechorus, just the best part.

ik the autotune in jimin’s set me free was used stylistically, but imo it could have been better without it, or at least not as much. Otherwise performance, choreography, visuals, instrumental, ATE

Breaking free is damn bad for me. GHSTLOOP always produces bad songs, he’s really obsessed with lousy autotune. Jimin’s lie and coincidence is so much better and disappoints me

Honestly, the autotune on Set Me Free is bad and Jimin could have sung without it, but that’s about the only negative thing I found about the song. Other than that, the production, the lyrics, everything from the outfits to the ON reference was absolutely wonderful.

Others, however, defend Jimin’s stylistic choices. Some fans pointed out the connections between “Set Me Free Pt.2”, the earlier works of BTS and Jimins. FACE Concept.
Jimin’s Filter, Black Swan and ON were all part of MOTS7’s Shadow section and are all represented here.
In Interlude: Shadow and Black Swan, the Shadow itself is represented by an autotune, which you can hear here.

The concept of distortion (via mirror self-reflection) continues through SMF’s use of aggressive autotuning. this creates a dichotomy (natural vs. distorted voice) – jimin’s software and hardware argue.
he delivers a sonic and visual duel. https://t.co/QPsg6F8ZeZ

Whatever the autotune means, many fans praise Jimin for thinking outside the box and trying something new for his new era.
Jimin uses autotune as his instrument and incorporates it into the song as his own different element…musical genius indeed!

and fuck the autotune language, plus I can sniff it from a mile away. Jimin can sing without us all knowing that it was obviously being stylistically exploited and I think it worked. 🤷♀️

I loved it because people have to realize that autotune is often used for artistic purposes with certain songs like Black Swan for example. Jimin ate https://t.co/3CZSuTuK3L
