Stray Kids’ Bang Chan reveals he wasn’t greeted by ‘next generation’ idols
Regarding Korean culture, many international fans praised the idols for their culture and welcoming demeanor.
When idols interact, it is common for them to greet each other politely, while respecting the notion of seniority.
One idol that’s garnered attention lately for speaking out in the industry on the subject of politeness and greeting is Bang Chan, the leader of Stray Kids.
From the beginning of Stray Kids, members have always been praised for their behavior towards other idols, whether senior or junior.
No matter where they go, they always stand out because they are polite and show their true personality.
On May 14, Bang Chan hosted a live stream in which he responded to fans and put smiles on their faces with his adorable personality.
His live performance garnered attention when he started talking about idol manners and greetings.
The topic started when he was asked how the Paris Music Bank was doing, which took place in April.
Bang Chan first revealed that the experience was a lot of fun and that he loved performing in front of the fans in Paris.
He then began discussing generational differences between idols in terms of manners.
“I don’t know if I’m just going to look like a boomer… I feel like it’s gotten to a point where greeting someone isn’t considered a normal way anymore. »
He went on to say that he doesn’t want to criticize anyone, but was surprised he didn’t get any praise from some of the “new” generation idols.
“I’m not the type to insult people or anything but I feel like I think about it too much because if you see someone walking by you say Annyeonghaseyo and if they don’t answer you would say ‘WTF’ … okay.’
But I feel like we’ve gotten to a point where this generation is allowed to do that but doesn’t care if it’s okay or not. »
Bang Chan didn’t name anyone specifically, but revealed he’d been through it many times before, to the point that he wondered if his excitement was right.
“I think there were a couple of scenarios where that happened. At first I thought okay, but the more I thought about it, the more I thought maybe I was exaggerating too much. Maybe I’m thinking about it too much. Maybe I’m a boomer. »
Bang Chan went on to say that he would do it anyway, although he felt like he was thinking about it too much and saying hello might not be that important.
“But I mean, from my perspective, whoever it is, I’ll say hello the best I can because I’m here to have fun and say hello to the people I love and respect. »
In the comments, fans wanted to know who Bang Chan was talking about, but the idol didn’t want to name a name.
“I won’t name names, but I suspect some people I don’t know do.
Maybe that could be the reason, because there is no connection. Maybe they were shy or nervous. »
The video went viral on social media and many fans were shocked that some idols didn’t say hello to others.
Furthermore, when Bang Chan speaks of a new generation, it means that they are younger members of the group.
The fact that the juniors don’t greet their seniors seems even more shocking to many fans.
On social media, many people assumed Bang Chan was talking about IVE.
Most focused on the validity of his opinions and that Bang Chan shouldn’t feel bad about those opinions or label himself a “boomer.”
- “I’m an introvert and don’t like to talk to people, but when they greet me, I greet back. It’s just a minimum. »
“It saddens me that he thinks he thinks too much while the others are being rude.”
“Hello IVE…”
“He’s not a boomer. He’s absolutely right. It is the basis of respect. »
“When a senior idol mentions not being welcomed by juniors, there is indeed a problem with new groups. »
“I’ve heard a lot of stories like this about IVE. So I think they’re talking about her. »
