aespa will soon be sunbaenim with the debut of SM Entertainment’s new girl group! Here are the details you need to know.

SM Entertainment, home of famous girl groups like SES, Girls Generation, f(x), Red Velvet and aespa, kicks off with the debut of a new girl team!
On March 16, it was reported that SM’s new girl group, also known as SMNGG 2023, will debut in June.

In particular, the members were selected during a private assessment organized on the 15th with randomly selected people. That day at 20:00 KST the 2023 SM Trainee Showcase took place in Seoul.
According to attendees of the exclusive presentation, 21 female trainees were introduced and showcased their idol skills, but only eight trainees were able to do their best, resulting in them joining the final lineup.

As of now, the final members have yet to be announced, but the tentative date for their introduction to the K-pop scene is expected to be between April and May, ahead of their official debut in June.
According to other sources, the remaining members are preparing for another debut girl group to start in the coming years.

Though the members have yet to shed their veils, insiders say many are potential members.
One trainee who is often mentioned is Helen, who almost made her debut at aespa. The Korean-Australian intern joined SM in 2019 and reportedly initially joined the quartet’s debut in 2020. However, she did not participate in the final cut and it was rumored that she left the agency afterwards. Just then, an insider said that Helen is still with SM and will most likely join SMNGG as a potential executive.

Another attention-grabbing trainee is Na Ha Eun, who was previously confirmed to be training under SM to debut in a girls’ group. Before becoming an SM intern, she was already popular as a dancer and soloist, known for her stunning dance covers on YouTube. With her fame, she even performed with top artists on MAMA.

In addition to Koreans, SMNGG is also said to consist of international members. One of them is said to be “Lan”, a Vietnamese born in 2004.
