To all the little boys and girls who look like me tonight. It is a beacon of hope and possibility. That’s the evidence [to] dream big and [that] Dreams come true. And ladies, don’t let anyone tell you that you’ve already passed your prime. Never give up.

Netizens erupted, accusing the streaming network of being misogynistic. Netizens said they weren’t surprised the network was SBS amid the controversy, given it has been accused of being misogynistic in the past.
“SBS continue to show that they are driven by Ilbe users.”
“The South Korean media class, everyone. Whore.”
“That’s bloody disgusting… Damn it.”
“I hope the international media will cover it.”

“Of course. These men.”
“I guess we know what kind of men work at SBS now. Haha.”
“I’m not even surprised at this point, LMAO.”
On March 14, SBS responded to the controversy and released a statement explaining why they chose to edit the speech the way they did. According to SBS, they edited Michelle Yeoh’s speech because they felt the speech wasn’t exclusively for women.

“How can they call themselves an information network, LOL. This is the level of the Korean media.
“They manipulate the news so easily.”
“I’m stunned. What were they thinking when they faked the acceptance speech? It’s so amazing LOL. Even if someone swears, a news channel shouldn’t be broadcasting it as it is?
“They’re acting like fools. Idiot shit, LOL.”
“Why do they do that?”
“They’re real psychopaths, LOL. Woman talks to women after winning Best Actress (and they do). The incels must die.
“It’s scary. The silver hands of the network (editorial power) are very scary.”
“Wait, who are you to tamper with someone else’s acceptance speech?” And then they cut off their tails and said it was someone’s fault? These incels should not be able to reproduce.
This isn’t the first time SBS has been accused of misogyny. The network has long been accused of ties to Ilbe, a misogynistic online community, and has been in the midst of controversy for its misogynistic behavior in the past.
