RM opens up about the future of BTS and his search for himself
RM, the leader of K-pop boy band BTS, has spoken openly about getting to know each other again now that the group is on an extended hiatus.
RM recently traveled internationally for Milan Fashion Week 2023. During his stay abroad, he decided to take a break and spend some time with his family. So RM then traveled to Barcelona, Spain.
During an interview with media Efe in Barcelona, the South Korean singer admits he’s going through one “difficult time on a human level”, because after 10 years without a break with BTS, the band members’ upcoming military service has forced the band into a hiatus.
But the BTS leader wants to stay positive and insists that the Situation “may benefit him as an artist” because “some great works are born in personally chaotic moments”.
During his stay in Spain, he confessed to being inspired by the country’s great artists. “I wanted to see works by Goya, Velazquez and Picasso to inspire me and I went to the Prado and other museums. »
But more than inspiration for his music, the K-pop idol revealed he’s also been doing some soul searching during this hiatus.
“After 10 years as a member of BTS, I didn’t know who I was and wanted to find out.” he explained.
“I started out as a teenage rapper, then BTS came along and it was all very intense. Now that the group is inactive I thought back to the beginning and the real reasons I joined BTS. »
“When you’re famous, it’s very difficult to stay on top”he agrees, “But I think BTS will make it. It will meet again when we finish our military service and we will seek new synergies between us to enter a second phase. But whatever, nothing lasts forever. »
