Raphaël Dupond Moretti, son of Justice Minister Eric Dupond-Moretti, was taken into police custody this Friday 27 January in Courchevel on suspicion of “domestic violence”. What do we know about him?
He is one of the two sons of the minister and his ex-wife Hélène. He is 32 years old and was born in the north, in Tourcoing. He studied in the department at Efficom in Lille, a digital and business school. According to his LinkedIn profile, BTS would have won negotiations and customer relationships.
Used in aviation, hospitality and on a yacht
He would then have changed paths to move towards air and sea transport and completed several training courses in these sectors, according to his CV on the social network. His professional experience is diverse, from waiter at the Royal Motor Yacht Club in Sydney to flight crew at Emirates airline, valet at the Four Seasons in Cap-Ferrat and pilot for the Bains de Mer company in Monaco.
Since 2020 he has been working as a master’s mate on a yacht. Some media say he was in Courchevel because he was working in a hotel.
This Friday he turned himself in to the authorities in the Savoy station. CNEWS learned the domestic violence incidents took place the previous day, Thursday. According to a Gendarmerie source, beatings are said to have taken place. He was taken into custody.
His father, Eric Dupond-Moretti, responded by saying he was “devastated as a father.” “Any violence, whatever it is, is intolerable. (…) It is now up to the judiciary to do their job,” he added.
