PENTAGON’s Hui reveals why he decided to take part in Boys Planet
South Korean singer Hui of K-pop boy band PENTAGON has spoken about his experience on Mnet reality show Boys Planet.
Hui recently completed “Boys Planet,” where he made it to the show’s finale, but narrowly missed getting into new boy band ZEROBASEONE. He has since spoken about his time on the TV show in an interview.
Since the news of the idol’s participation initially caused a lot of controversy online, her further explanations about it gave fans a better understanding of her position.
Several of his members and employees of his company CUBE Entertainment reacted negatively. They found it “sad” that he had to start from scratch in a survival program.
“I’m so thankful to my fans who have stayed loyal to me and supported my journey into the show. I spoke to the contestants [« Boys Planet »] before, and of course not everyone agreed. Some supported my decision, but some members were saddened by it. »
The singer added that his agency, CUBE Entertainment, is also opposed to the idea. “They were concerned that my previous career as a singer-producer might be affected. […] So I kept it simple and just said, “I want to do this. I think we need a challenge.” he explained.
“I knew it could also be a sad and disappointing decision for my fans, but it was all the more reason for me to tell myself that I had to make something positive out of it. [audition]. I had to believe in myself that I just had to do a good job. »
He explained why he made the decision to participate in the show.
“The first reason was for PENTAGON. I thought we needed something different given the performance of our albums over the past few years. My goal was to get more people to see me through this show, thereby raising awareness of PENTAGON. »
He felt responsible as the leader of PENTAGON. He wanted to do whatever he could to help the group. His options were limited, and Mnet’s program was a concrete way to achieve this.
“I felt like there wasn’t much I could do. »
The idol also revealed he needed a challenge as an artist.
“But it was also a challenge that Hui needed to grow as an individual. Society was very much against it. They feared that my previous career as a singer-producer might be affected.
I knew then that nothing I said would sound realistic, no matter how ambitious it was. I had to believe in myself and do a good job. »
Though the 29-year-old failed to break into the top 9 and join project boy band ZEROBASEONE (ZB1), Hui says he has no regrets.
“Honestly, I have no regrets because I’ve always done my best and learned so much. Through the program I learned that evil can also be good. »
Hui says he was a tense and sensitive perfectionist. But after his appearance in “Boys Planet” he transformed into a bright and positive person.
“Nowadays I am really happy and enjoying everything around me. Having spent time with younger trainees eager to make their debut, I now know that what I am doing is a great blessing. »
He hopes to positively influence more people.
“My fans seem happy because I look happy to them. I now know that I have the power to make someone else happy. I hope to send a message of hope to many people as well. »
Hui has received a lot of attention since appearing on the show. Many are wondering if PENTAGON will renew their contract with their agency this contract renewal season.
“I don’t think I should be hasty in saying that. The whole situation is open and various discussions are ongoing.
I have many conversations with the members. What I can tell you is that our relationship is really good. I’m still thinking about how we can develop into a cool team. »
We can’t wait to see what Hui has in store for us next.
