NewJeans’ “OMG” becomes the second longest-running K-pop girl group song on the Billboard Hot 100

NewJeans’ “OMG” enters the 6th straight week on the Billboard Hot 100, tied with BLACKPINK’s “Pink Venom”.
On March 1, NewJeans’ “OMG” rivaled BLACKPINK’s “Pink Venom” on the Billboard Hot 100.

“OMG” is now recognized as the second longest-running song by a female K-pop artist on the Hot 100. It stayed at number 89 on the Hot 100 and made it its sixth week on the chart.
However, it was only surpassed by “Ice Cream,” a BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez collaboration track. In 2020, “Ice Cream” spent eight consecutive weeks on the Billboard Hot 100.

On January 25, Billboard announced on Twitter that “OMG” entered the Hot 100, earning a spot at #91. NewJeans received its second entry with “OMG” after “Ditto” which secured its spot at #96. .
Despite being a rookie group, NewJeans have officially joined sensational groups BTS and BLACKPINK as the third K-pop act to debut on the Hot 100 alongside multiple songs.
Aside from Billboard Hot 100, “OMG” also entered multiple charts including Global 200 at #14, World Digital Song Sales at #6, and Global Excl. USA in 9th place.

Notably, “OMG” and “Ditto” hit 100 million streams faster than previous NewJeans releases “Attention” and “Hype Boy,” proving their growing popularity.
‘OMG’ makes NewJeans the fastest K-pop group to become a million sellers
NewJeans has also achieved historic success with their physical album sales. On January 27th, Circle Chart announced that their album “OMG” had officially sold 1,013,62 copies.
The girl group hit the milestone in just six months since their debut, making them the fastest K-pop group to become a million-seller. They are also the youngest artist to reach that mark, and also the seventh K-pop girl group to do so.

Circle Chart revealed that 720,000 physical albums were successfully sold and 290,000 were also from Weverse.
“OMG” recorded half a million sell-out sales on its first day, reaching 480,000 total sales. It also surpassed the band’s debut album, NewJeans, which sold 311,271 copies in its first week.

NewJeans released the MV of “OMG” on January 2nd and received instant affection from the community for its musicianship. It also garnered attention for its incredible screenplay, narration, and bizarre direction in the music video.
Featuring three performance videos and an MV, “OMG” went viral for its “killer” part in the chorus as well as the on-screen broadcast of the members. It spawned dozens of covers across the internet, proving the song’s growing popularity.
