NewJeans is the first Korean group in 26 years to sell a million copies of their debut album
The NewJeans group continues to show their incredible popularity in the kpop industry.
On Dec. 16, it was announced that Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon will hold a ceremony at Seoul City Hall on Thursday to present certificates of appointment to new honorary ambassadors, city officials said.
Among those ambassadors in the South Korean capital is the NewJeans Group, which will promote the city of Seoul’s public image through public activities for a two-year, renewable tenure.

According to the latest Circle Chart update, NewJeans’ debut album, New Jeans, released on August 1, 2022, has sold 1 million copies, setting a new record among girl groups.
The NewJeans mini-album was the first debut album by a Korean group in 26 years to sell over a million copies since SECHSKIES’ “School Byeolgok” in 1997.
