Netizens vote best girl group unit ever
Kpop groups sometimes like to break down into sub-groups called units, which are generally very successful.
Recently we can mention SEVENTEEN’s BSS or NCT’s DOJAEJUNG.
In a popular online community, a post caught the attention of netizens. Netizens debated which unit they consider to be the most popular girl group unit to date based on the results of the songs on the charts.
The subunit under discussion is SISTAR19, consisting of Hyolyn and Bora, then members of SISTAR.
SISTAR19 debuted in May 2011 with the hugely popular song “Ma Boy” which is still widely popular and features iconic choreography.
The song peaked at number 36th place on the annual Melon chart, an excellent result for One Unit stock.
In January 2013 their second and final duet song “Gone Not Around Any Longer” was released, which also served as the title track on their first and only EP.
This return was very well received, peaking at 10th placeth Position on Annual Melon.
SISTAR and with it SISTAR19 unfortunately split up in 2017 and didn’t give us any more iconic titles.
However, these songs are still very popular today.
After seeing the netizen’s post, many netizens agreed that SISTAR19 is arguably the most popular female subunit of all time.
A few other popular second-generation girl groups were also mentioned, such as Orange Caramel (a sub-unit of After School) and Girls’ Generation-TTS.
