On March 10, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, together with the Korea Foundation for International Cultural Exchange (KOFICE), conducted a survey in 26 different countries on different continents, including North America and South, Europe, Africa and Asia.

In particular, a total of 25,000 people between the ages of 15 and 59 were asked to answer two questions;

  • Who is your current favorite Korean actor?
  • Who is currently your favorite Korean singer/group?

The purpose of the survey is to learn more about the perceptions and behaviors of global fans liking and consuming K-content, also known as “Hallyu” content, around the world. The sample group selected for the survey is a half gender ratio. The distribution of the sample also results from a uniform distribution of 6,250 people by age group.

One of the most striking results of the survey is the subjective survey of the actors/singers. In the national “Favorite Idols or Singer” category, “Prince of Pop” BTS topped the “Voting Singers and Groups” category broadly.
