K-Pop Idols Coming of Age: IVE, NewJeans, ENHYPEN and more
As South Korea celebrates the 51st Coming of Age Day, the focus is on the stars born in 2004, who will reach adulthood this year, and their success.
Coming of Age Day celebrates people turning 19 every year.
Coming of Age Day, or more precisely, majority day is 성년의날 in Korean. It is the legal birthday of each year on the third Monday of May for new adults who turn or will be 19 that year.
This day is designed to celebrate new adults and remind them of their responsibilities as adults in society. You will also receive gifts including 20 roses, perfume, stuffed animals, etc.
Recently Jang WonYoung, Liz and Reo returned with IVE full album I’VE IVE. The album is highly regarded, topping the national digital charts as well as worldwide charts such as the Billboard Global 200.
NewJeans’ Minji, who made his debut in July last year, is also celebrating coming-of-age day this year.
Minji and Hanni are part of the NewJeans group that caused a stir last year. Even today, their debut songs “Attention” and “Hype Boy” are leading the digital music charts. NewJeans became the first K-pop group to top Spotify’s weekly Top Artist award.

Also born in 2004 are Lucy and Minseo from woo!ah!; Yoon and J from STAYC; Youngeun and Huening Bahiyyih from Kep1er; Bae and Sullyoon from NMIXX; Lee Jaehee and Jihan from Weekekly; and Saena, Sio and Aran from Fifty-Fifty.

Foreign members born in 2004 also celebrate this day. They are Rei (IVE), Hikaru (Kep1er), Haruto (TREASURE) with Japanese nationality and Hani (NewJeans) who has dual Australian and Vietnamese nationality.
