JYJ’s Kim Jaejoong denies charges of tax evasion in Soompi
Kim Jaejoong (JYJ) has responded to allegations of tax evasion.
On March 9, media outlets announced that Kim Jaejoong was fined 100 million won after a tax review in 2020.
Following this, Kim Jaejoong’s agency, C-JeS Entertainment, said:
“During the 2020 tax investigation, part of the income from the artist’s activities in Japan was omitted, resulting in additional taxes, and he paid 100 million won in additional taxes.
At that time, he declared and duly paid the sales tax, but there was a time difference in the accounting process when going back and forth between Korea and Japan. Part of the amount he declared as necessary expenses had no relation to the business, so he paid it immediately after confirming that the additional tax existed.
This was solely due to the different interpretation of tax law, which distinguishes business expenses from private expenses, and there was no intention of tax evasion. »
