A serious injury. Hyères midfielder (N2) Almike Moussa N’Diaye, injured by OM player Eric Bailly, was taken to Marseille North Hospital where he was admitted to intensive care, Var club president Mourad Boudjellal said this Saturday Jan. 7, told AFP.

“He was transferred to the Nord hospital and taken to the intensive care unit as a precaution,” said Mourad Boudjellal, adding that his player had previously been taken to a hospital in Martigues, where the game between Hyères and OM took place.

“We pray that all goes well for him. He’s a great boy and one of our best elements,” added the former Rugby Club Toulonnais boss.

Punch in the chest

The employees of the N2 club (4th league) were initially rather reassuring. “More scared than harm, nothing serious, maybe a concussion,” assistant coach Zaki Noubir said on Maritima radio. “Bailly quickly came to our dressing room to offer his shirt and most importantly to hear from him,” he added.

N’Diaye was injured in the 15th minute of the game which OM eventually won 2-0. When Hyères counterattacked, he was hit in the chest and at full speed in the foot by Eric Bailly, who was late.

The Var attacking midfielder was evacuated off the field on a stretcher and taken to an ambulance parked at the edge of the lawn.
