Football: FC Barcelona wins the Spanish Super Cup against Real Madrid (3:1)

FC Barcelona won the 2022 Spanish Super Cup by beating Real Madrid (3-1) this Sunday night in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).

Barça didn’t go into detail against their merengue rivals on Sunday night in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, broadly winning 3-1 to secure the Spanish Super Cup.

The goals were scored by Gavi (33e), Robert Lewandowski (45e) and Peter (69e). On the other hand, Karim Benzema’s team-mates, who saved the honor in added time, could never get the Catalans down.

This is the 14the Spanish Super Cup for Barca. The first in the new format set up in 2019 with four participating teams (semi-finals and finals). Most importantly, it’s Xavi’s first title as a Blaugrana manager.

After Barça de Xavi took Real’s first place in La Liga in early November just ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Barça de Xavi continues to threaten Real’s omnipotence on the league with this Spain’s 14th Supercup title, despite his transfer to the Europa League Spanish stage (around 12 for Real). Something to spice up this second half of the season.
