ENHYPEN fans send protest floats against party with “Bite Me” dancers
ENHYPEN are finally ready to herald a new era with their fourth mini-album Dark Blood.
The first installment in the so-called “Blood” series marks a return to the group’s story-driven beginnings and fully dedicates itself to their storytelling as K-pop’s cutest vampires.
ENHYPEN released their latest track “BITE ME” on May 22nd, a dark vampire concept.
The guys showed a more mature atmosphere compared to their previous works.
From the first seconds of the teaser, fans were seething with impatience to see the group come up with a darker and more mature concept.
What was particularly striking was the fact that the boys saw dancing with female dancers and not male dancers.
In the world of kpop, it is rare and even controversial for idols to collaborate with, or even be friends with, people of the opposite sex.
Of course there are exceptions, but these are not always without consequences.
Take for example the duo Trouble Maker, formed by Kim HyunA and Jang Hyun-seung. Although their duet was popular, it was also heavily criticized for being too explicit.
When international fans saw the members of ENHYPEN dance with dancers, they went into a frenzy.
Many praised the group for their fresh and new concept. It is a rarity to see four male idolsth Generation dances with women.
After the video for “Bite Me” was released, it was no surprise that it racked up over 1.5 million views in just a few hours.
The members shone throughout the video with their unreal talent, visual skills and acting while delving into a dark concept.
In addition, the choreography with the dancers is absolutely not prudish. Without provoking, the group begins a sensual dance that attracts attention.
Korean netizens loved the choreography and thought it was revolutionary for a group of fourth Generation. They commented:
“ENHYPEN torn apart, they ate and devastated everything that got in their way! »
“Bite Me is officially ENHYPEN’s best era, I just can’t get over it! »
“Even the press says the MV is great. You look perfect and the choreography sells dreams! It’s dark and sexy. I adore ! »
“The beauty of this MV, the choreography… it’s from another world…”
“It’s revolutionary for a 4Gen band… sensual and dark, with women. No really, they are special. »
During the group’s showcase, they performed the track and the choreography mesmerized the audience!
However, this choreography does not seem to be unanimous with dancers…
In fact, as fans became more sensitive, concerned 4th Generation fans feared that this would prevent new fans from breaking into the fandom, and would also damage the current fandom and the Idols’ image.
Despite the sensual but professional choreography, some fans didn’t like the direction the group was taking.
A group of fans sent protest cars in front of the group’s headquarters.
Trucks are calling for the removal of choreography from the song, claiming that it only served to stunt ENHYPEN’s growth
“Be. Lift Lab, who ridiculed the waiting fans. The company that determines the artist’s future.
The company that has no desire to grow. The label under HYBE with the lowest performance. »
“The attacker that makes the fans go, Be. LiftLab. Completely eliminate the choreography with the dancers. Bring only the seven members on stage. »
After seeing this, many netizens reacted and said that they understand the fans, but maybe the trucks were a bit too much.
“What was the purpose of the choreography? »
“What fandom would like that?” It’s not even special or anything. »
“The dancers must be annoyed. »
“Honestly, from a third party perspective, it feels a bit like they’re playing, but if my idol came back after a long time and that happened, I wouldn’t like it either. »
“One truck is too much for the third person. Am I weird for feeling this way? »
“I feel sorry for the dancers. »
“I’m waiting for the fans. Coming in third it looks like they’re overdoing it, but did you even hear the screams from the fans regarding the achievement? »
“The fans wouldn’t like it. »
