Do you remember… the ketchup?
Las Ketchup is a Spanish music group that rose to worldwide fame in 2002 with their hit song “The Ketchup Song” (Aserejé). The group initially consisted of three sisters, as of 2006 four: Lola, Pilar, Lucía and Rocío Muñoz.
The formation of the group
The Muñoz sisters started making music at a young age, inspired by their father, a guitarist who was Juan Munoz, says tomato : This is also where the name of your group Las Ketchup, founded in 2001, comes from. A deal with Spanish label Shaketown Music will be signed soon.
“The Ketchup Song” (Aserejé) was their first single, released in June 2002. The track was a huge hit worldwide, reaching number one on the charts in many countries including France, Germany, Italy and the UK. The song has become a real phenomenon with its catchy choreography and catchy chorus. The single has sold over seven million copies worldwide.
The hit “The Ketchup Song” is taken from Las Ketchup’s debut studio album Hijas del Tomate, which was released on July 30, 2002. The album contained songs in Spanish with flamenco and pop influences and was a commercial success in Europe and Latin America.
Las Ketchup at the Eurovision Song Contest
Las Ketchup also took part in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2006, representing Spain with the song “Bloody Mary”. Although the song did not win the competition, it was still appreciated by the group’s fans.

Also remember that it was in 2002, a year after Jennifer’s victory in the first edition of Star Ac’, that TF1 had decided to come back for a second season: 22 contestants who once again opened the doors of the Dammarie-Les Castle entered. Lys… Among them Houcine, Emma Daumas, Nolwen Leroy, … and in particular Georges-Alain Jones, considered the troublemaker of this new season. With his interpretation of the title on stage, he must have shaped the atmosphere a player Las Ketchup: nonchalance, singing in yoghurt, more than just rough choreography, … about this worldwide success.
Although Las Ketchup did not enjoy the same level of commercial success as their debut with their subsequent albums, the band continued to release music and perform live. Over the years, Las Ketchup have evolved musically, incorporating influences from different genres into their music. To date, “The Ketchup Song” is their biggest hit.
