DKZ Kyoungyoon Fan says she was initiated into JMS worship by her idol mom
It was recently revealed that Kyoungyoon, a member of the DKZ group, was a member of the Providence cult, also known as JMS.
The founder of this sect, Jeong Myeong Seok, is said to have sexually abused (groomed) and exploited many of his young followers.
Kyoungyoon became a member through his parents and In a lengthy interview with Dispatch, he spoke about his relationship with the cult.
Then he did a handwritten apology letter to fans on March 14.
On March 16, SBS News published an interview with a fan who accused DKZ’s Kyoungyoon’s mother of forcing her to attend a church associated with the controversial JMS cult.
The fan says she wanted to shed light on the family’s “lies,” which were exposed in the interview with Dispatch.
“After reading the interview with Kyoungyoong and his mother, I contacted Kyoungyoong’s mother and his label to ask them why they lied, but I never got an answer.
Aside from the (betrayal) I felt as a fan, it was really hard for me to learn that the person I was leaning on was a JMS messenger and that the words she (Kyoungyoon’s mother) told me came from the teachings of JMS . »
The fan says she was introduced to JMS Church on October 29 after visiting the idol’s mother’s cafe for several months.
“After we became closer after many conversations, Kyoungyoon’s mother asked me if I belonged to any religion. When I told her no, she encouraged me to find one. I told him I wanted to pray but because I was in an unfamiliar area I didn’t know where to go.
Then she told me that Kyoungyoon’s family went to church. Then she encouraged me to come to her church the next day, which was a Sunday. I met Kyoungyoon’s mother and grandmother at the promised time and we entered the church together.
Kyoungyoon’s mother was a deacon in the church, and when the service began, she would come upstairs and talk and sing while the pastor or Kyoungyoon’s aunt preached. I remember service was about love. Only ten people gathered for the service in a small space. I remember there was a staircase to the second floor. »
The fan said she didn’t realize the church wasn’t a “normal” church.
“I had such a good impression of the church members because they were so warm and kind to me. It got to the point where I realized I had many prejudices against Christians. »
The fan revealed how Kyoungyoon’s mother allegedly got her into the JMS doctrine.
“She said we were God’s brides. She said that God loves us so much and that love is a thousand times greater than the love between a parent and a child. It was only after watching Netflix’s In The Name of God: A Holy Betrayal that I realized these were the teachings of JMS.”
The fan revealed that she lived far away from Kyoungyoon’s mother’s church and didn’t ask him to come back.
She said she’s really glad to have met someone as nice as Kyoungyoon’s mother, but it’s hard to figure out that everything Kyoungyoon’s mother told her was the teachings of JMS.
The fan revealed that she asked for an apology but never received one.
“When I first found out that the coffee shop was associated with JMS, I contacted Kyoungyoon’s mother to tell her something, but her phone number had changed. I then emailed the label wanting an apology but never got a response.
Today, despite fears for my safety, after watching the JMS documentary, I get up to relieve my heavy heart after reading the interviews with other JMS victims. »
SBS News then contacted DKZ’s record label, which said the idol’s mother was in denial.
“The fan in question used to frequent the cafe and became friends with (Kyoungyouon’s) mother. There were times when she stayed (in the area) for four nights and five days. Since the fan often spoke to Kyoungyoon’s mother about his depression, she encouraged the fan to go to any church, not hers, but any church, be it the one the fan’s family attended, a church near the terminal or another church that she hoped would comfort the fan and help her get well.
After that, on a Sunday, the fan showed up in the middle of the service at the church (of Kyoungyoon’s mother) and sat at the very back. After the service was over, the fan told her that she had regained her strength and was feeling better, so Kyoungyoon’s mother was relieved and advised her to find another church. Kyoungyoon’s mother denies ever recommending the fan go to her church. »
However, the fan countered by saying that she was indeed encouraged by Kyoungyouon’s mother to attend the JMS-affiliated church.
