Disney+ wows fans with incredible range of K-content: ‘Not an American drama, but a Korean one?’ • Kpop News
OTT platform Disney+ has unveiled its 2023 K-content offering, delighting fans with plenty of amazing works.
Following the hit original series Big Bet, the OTT Disney+ platform unveiled an incredible selection of K-content for 2023 and caught viewers’ attention.
First, Disney+’s lineup of original series immediately grabs attention with high-quality projects featuring the best Korean production teams and actors.
One notable project is office K-drama Race, starring Lee Yeon Hee, Hong Jong Hyun, Moon So Ri, and Jung Yun Ho, which tells the story of South Korean office workers struggling to survive in diverse work environments. The show is scheduled to premiere on May 10th.
Subscribers are also eagerly awaiting the second season of the investigative thriller “Shadow Detective”. The series will continue to follow male lead Kim Taek Rok (Lee Sung Min) as he returns to track down the mastermind behind the blackmailer Friend.
In addition, Han River features an all-star cast including Kwon Sang Woo, Kim Hee Won, Lee Sang Yi, Bae Da Bin and Shin Hyun Seung, who transform into Han River police officers.
Another highly anticipated title is Moving, a drama based on a popular webtoon of the same name. So far, Moving has drawn attention to its star cast, including Ryu Seung Ryong, Han Hyo Joo, Jo In Sung, Cha Tae Hyun, Ryu Seung Bum, Kim Sung Kyun, Kim Hee Won, Moon Sung Geun, Lee Jung Ha, Go Yoon Jung and Kim Do Hoon.
Disney+ is also preparing the Korean original series The Worst of Evil, which features explosive synergy from Ji Chang Wook, Wi Ha Joon and Im Se Mi.
Also available is Disney+’s action-thriller Vigilante, which follows the story of Kim Ji Yong as he leads a double life as a model police academy student by day and a crime-fighting vigilante by night.
In addition to original series, Disney+ also offers various genres such as original variety shows, sports and music documentaries.
For example, Suga’s BTS music documentary “SUGA: Road to D-DAY” and sports documentary “Full Count,” which features ten professional baseball teams in South Korea, will air on April 21 and 26, respectively.
Other highlights include Psy’s live concert film, Summer Swag 2022, which set the mood for summer 2022, and Season 2 of the hilarious variety show, The Zone: Hold On to Live, starring Yoo Jae Suk, Lee Kwang Soo, and Kwon Yuri, who features intense cast chemistry.
In addition to original works, Disney+ also features popular Korean films and dramas, such as family-friendly spy comedy Family starring Jang Hyuk and Jang Na Ra and popular medical drama Dr. Romantic 3″, known for its touching humanism.
Additionally, the anticipated occult mystery The Devil, written by Kim Eun Hee of Kingdom and director Lee Jung Rim of VIP, will be featured in the Disney+ lineup. Starring Kim Tae Ri and Oh Jung Se, the series is expected to attract subscribers from Korea and overseas.
Finally, The First Responders, a series that shows the combined reactions of a police station and a fire station to violent scenes, will also be available to stream on Disney+.
