A car hit a peloton of young cyclists in Plouagat (Côtes-d’Armor) on Saturday afternoon, injuring eight people, two of them seriously, according to police and firefighters.

At around 3pm on a side road, “a peloton of about fifteen cyclists was hit from behind by a vehicle, an Audi A5, causing six minor injuries and two more serious ones,” the Côtes-d’ gendarmes told AFP. Armor, confirming information from local media.
Among the six slightly injured are four 13-year-olds, one 15-year-old and the 41-year-old mountain guide.
The two seriously injured people who were hospitalized in Saint-Brieuc are 13 and 20 years old, according to the fire department.
The perpetrator fled and, according to the gendarmerie, was found a few minutes after the incident. The suspect, a man, was arrested and taken into custody, according to the same source.
