BTS get RIAJ Million + LE SSERAFIM certification, NCT DREAM, More get Platinum KpopHit

BTS, LE SSERAFIM, and other K-pop groups have received numerous certifications from the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ).

BTS Receives One Million Certificates + THE SSERAFIM, NCT DREAM, Stray Kids Earn Platinum

On March 10th, the Recording Industry Association of Japan, or simply known as RIAJ, lifted the lid on artists who have earned certifications.

First up in the announcement was BTS, which received an official one million certification from RIAJ as their 2020 Japanese album Map of the Soul: 7 ~The Journey~ sold over one million units.

According to RIAJ’s certification requirements, 100,000 albums shipped equals gold certification, 250,000 equals platinum certification, and 1,000,000 equals one million certificates.

HYBE and Source Music’s LE SSERAFIM girl group also joined, earning a double platinum certification for shipping 500,000 units with their debut single “FEARLESS.”

This feat also made LE SSERAFIM the first K-pop group to go double platinum with their initial release in Japan.

Meanwhile, NCT DREAM’s Best Friend Ever and Stray Kids’ Japanese debut studio album THE SOUND have both received platinum certifications. This is due to the albums shipping over 250,000 units when they were released on February 8 and 9 respectively.

BTS Receives Multiple RIAJ Certifications, LE SSERAFIM Earns Gold with “ANTIFRAGILE”

Separately, the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) also announced the K-pop artists who have received streaming certifications.

On February 27, BTS received triple platinum certifications from RIAJ after earning 300 million streams of “Butter” in Japan. This was followed by her single “Permission to Dance” which received her RIAJ double platinum certification after 200 million streams.

The 2020 BTS hit “Dynamite” also joined their platinum compilation after surpassing 500 million streams and earning RIAJ’s group diamond certification.

These achievements led to BTS becoming the only Korean act with the top three RIAJ streaming certifications.

With LE SSERAFIM hot on their heels, the fourth-generation band achieved RIAJ Gold certification. Her song “ANTIFRAGILE” is said to have exceeded 50 million streams in Japan.

K-Pop Artists Who Earned the Most RIAJ Certifications

Throughout the history of K-pop, various artists have received numerous RIAJ certifications due to their thriving music and growing popularity.
