BTS and TXT’s Suga is hated by basketball fans after being invited by the NBA
BTS’ Suga is known to be a big fan of basketball and by extension, the NBA.
The idol’s stage name is also inspired by the sport. One of the reasons he took his stage name is because he served as a shooting guard for his basketball team. So he decided to merge the first syllable of each word into SUGA.
In April, the National Basketball Association (NBA) announced that BTS member Suga would be its newest ambassador.
The idol was very happy and so were the fans, knowing that he loves the sport.
Suga recently showcased his acting skills in an advertisement for the 2023 NBA FINALS. The ad focuses on famous NBA fans and says, “WE ARE ALL IN THE FINALS.”
While Suga is in the middle of his US tour, he attended the semifinals game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Golden State Warriors.
Following the Lakers’ win, the team and the NBA released photos and video of Suga posing in a personalized team jersey.
Immediately, netizens flooded the comments section. Unfortunately, the majority was negative.
Anyone who knows Suga knows that he really loves sports. Therefore, regardless of the team, he attends NBA games whenever he is in the United States. However, the NBA fans do not like this “betrayal”.
- “Bro was fair with the Knicks. »
- “Isn’t he a Knicks fan? »
- “WHO?”
- “He eats on all shelves. »
Many comments were derogatory and racist. Some called Suga a woman, while others asked, “Who? »
And Suga isn’t the only kpop artist to have been attacked online. His “little brothers” TXT were also invited by the NBA.
Celebrities are promoting the upcoming event, including TXT. The members toured the NBA and posed with the iconic Larry O’Brien trophy.
The NBA posted the group photo on social media, including a cute nod to the TXT song “Crown,” but teams Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors spoke out in favor of Hueningkai and Beomgyu, who wore their respective teams’ jerseys.
Despite the post’s good humor and fair play, NBA fans flooded the comments section with hateful comments.
“Who are these women? Why do you post them all the time? Ugh…now her boring fanbase will be here.”
Most of the hate comments were homophobic, transphobic, sexist, etc. Some also made racist and derogatory statements towards Koreans.
Many fans tried to leave some love in the comments, hoping to block harmful comments.
