BTS and Coldplay’s ‘My Universe’ goes platinum in France
BTS goes platinum again on French soil!
Whereas an album used to have to sell more than 100,000 copies in France to go gold, things have changed in recent years. In fact, in 2006 and then in 2009, SNEP decided to lower the number of copies sold to 50,000 for a gold record and 100,000 for a platinum record.
Additionally, since 2018, streaming listings have been converted to corresponding sales and added to physical sales and download sales. Therefore, today it takes 100,000 equivalents to obtain a platinum disc on French soil.
A song requires 30 million equivalent streams to achieve platinum certification.
Then, on February 28, SNEP announced that Coldplay and BTS’ “My Universe” had reached those 30 million equivalent streams, allowing the title to go platinum in France.
This is the second platinum record in France for BTS after MAP OF THE SOUL: 7.
Congratulations to BTS!
