Boys Planet’s Zhang Hao Slammed For Attending Chinese Communist Party Event
On April 20th, the Boys Planet finale revealed the names of the 9 contestants that make up the final group, dubbed ZEROBASEONE.
The apprentice who came in first was none other than Zhang Hao, who became the first foreigner (he’s Chinese) to lead a Korean survival show. However, it is currently embroiled in controversy.
However, concern is growing as many Chinese idols have been showing incomprehensible things amid growing anti-Chinese sentiment over China’s cultural invasion, which has been repeatedly highlighted since the 2010s.
On April 24, it was revealed that the idol had attended a Chinese Communist Party event organized by the Communist Youth League. The group is said to believe that China and North Korea were right in the Korean War.
Zhang Hao is scheduled to perform a song dedicated to the revolutionary martyrs to celebrate the centenary of the Communist Party.
After seeing this, many netizens got angry. As a reminder, the Korean War, which took place between 1950 and 1953, saw the country completely divided between the communist north and the south allied with the United States.
Fighting escalated as America and China joined the war, fighting alongside South Korea and North Korea, respectively.
It’s a trauma still etched deep in the minds of Koreans who criticized Mnet and the fans for voting for Zhang Hao.
- “Why do you think our country is divided in two? And he’s part of a group that commemorates it? But is he a K-pop idol? How is it possible? If he wants to be such an idol, he should become one in his own country. »
- “The audience should have dropped it first, you damn idiots. »
- “The fact that (the public) still knows and votes for him makes me question their sanity. »
- “Mnet’s idol survival programs are all rigged to start with, LOL. I stopped watching as the prosecutors began investigating.
- ” Wow. »
- “All Koreans who voted for him should be sent to China. Selling their land for their idols should be embarrassing. »
- “The Korean public already knew about it, but chose it anyway, LOL. »
- “What’s wrong with the audience that chose him? LOL, he’s literally revising history. »
International fans, on the other hand, came to the idol’s defense. They state that the event had no connection to the Korean War. According to international fans, the song that Zhang Hao sang also had no affiliation with the war.
