A K-Pop fan collected fanfiction data for various fandoms
The subject of fan fiction is often controversial among K-pop fans. While some fan fiction are harmless stories written by loving fans as a simple demonstration of their creativity and imagination, opinions differ on the relevance and morality of more gender-centric fan fiction.
Recently, a fan on Reddit was collecting data on K-Pop fanfiction on one of his favorite and most well-known sites, ArchiveOfOurOwn (better known as AO3). From what they discovered, they were able to figure out not only which K-pop artists had the most fanfics written about them, but also the average number of fics written about them each day. Fanfiction ratings weren’t included, so they range from innocent fluff to probably hardcore smut.
Here are the 15 K-pop groups that have, on average, the most new fanfiction written about them each day on AO3. Note that the data was collected on March 13th.
1. BTS
Since its debut 3,560 days ago, a total of 202,983 fanfics have been written about BTS, which is an average of 57.0 new fictions written per day.
2. Stray kids
A total of 46,495 fanfictions have been written about Stray Kids since their debut 1,814 days ago, an average of 25.6 new novels per day.
3. NKT
NCT has written a total of 64,307 fanfictions about her since her debut 2,529 days ago, which is an average of 25.4 new fictions per day.
4. Exo
EXO has written a total of 64,308 fanfictions about them since their debut 3,991 days ago, averaging 16.1 new FFs per day.
5. SEVENTEEN
SEVENTEEN has written a total of 36,205 fanfictions about her since her debut 2,848 days ago, which is an average of 12.7 new fictions per day.
6. ENHYPEN
ENHYPEN has written a total of 9,770 fanfictions about her since her debut 833 days ago, resulting in an average of 11.7 new FFs per day.
7.ATEEZ
Since its debut 1,601 days ago, a total of 18,523 fanfictions have been written about ATEEZ, an average of 11.6 new fictions per day.
8.TXT
Since its debut 1,470 days ago, a total of 14,997 fanfictions have been written via TXT, an average of 10.2 new fictions per day.
9.GOT7
GOT7 has written a total of 15,552 fanfictions about her since her debut 3,343 days ago, which is an average of 4.7 new fictions written per day.
10. MONSTA X
A total of 12,974 fan fictions have been written about MONSTA X since its debut 2,860 days ago, an average of 4.5 new fictions per day.
11. TWICE
TWICE has written a total of 9,350 fanfictions about her since her debut 2,701 days ago, resulting in an average of 3.5 new FFs per day.
12.LONA
Since its debut 1,667 days ago, a total of 4,752 fan fictions have been written about LOONA, which corresponds to an average of 2.9 new fictions per day.
13. THE BOY
Since its debut 1,923 days ago, a total of 5,485 fanfictions have been written about THE BOYZ, an average of 2.9 new fictions per day.
14. I want one
Since its debut 2,197 days ago, a total of 6,009 fan fictions have been written about Wanna One, an average of 2.7 new fictions per day.
15. TREASURE
TREASURE has written a total of 2,339 fanfictions about her since her debut 948 days ago, resulting in an average of 2.5 new FFs per day.
