6 Details and references from the music video “Haegeum” by Suga/Agust D
BTS’ Suga is back as Agust D.
This time Suga completes his trilogy that started with Agust D, followed by D-2 and now his first official solo album, D-Day.
The title track is called Haegeum. Haegeum (literal meaning – a traditional Korean musical instrument) was uniquely written and produced by Suga himself.
Haegeum’s music video picks up Suga’s narration from the previous two mixtapes. The MV is full of details and references to famous films, past music videos and more.

- The joker
Suga pays homage to the Joker, played by Heath Ledger, by recreating one of his iconic recordings from The Dark Knight.
Suga also uses the character’s famous quote, “Why so serious?” in his 2020 song “People.”
The plan is also similar to that of Agust D’s “Daechwita” MV.

In the film “Scarface” the bathtub is a symbol of excess, violence and decadence. As the film progresses, the tub becomes a symbol of Tony’s descent into insanity and eventual downfall.
Scarface’s use of fire serves to emphasize the destructive nature of Tony’s actions and the consequences of uncontrolled ambition and violence.
- The police icon
Villain Agust d is released by a police station and the police waves at him on the way out… This could be a critique of corruption and shows how the rich control the law
- The red chopsticks
Suga eats with red chopsticks, which he also used to kill someone.
There is the symbolism of killing to eat and eating to live. Our own existence and survival are based on this endless cycle.
- Fish
If you found it odd that Suga made fun of the fish, it was symbolic that he realized he looked a lot like him. Just like a fish in a bowl, it has no privacy.
