5 WJSN members are officially leaving Starship Entertainment, 8 are renewing their contracts
Eight members of 13-member girl group WJSN (or Cosmic Girls) have renewed their contracts with Starship Entertainment, according to the agency.
WJSN debuted as a 12-piece group in February 2016 and became a 13-piece group when Yeonjung joined in June of the same year.
As of the second half of 2018, WJSN mainly operated as a group of 10, with Chinese members Xuanyi, Cheng Xiao and Meiqi running their own operations in China.
Now five WJSN members have decided to leave Starship Entertainment while eight members have decided to stay with the company.
On March 3, the agency released the following official statement:
” Good morning. It’s Starship Entertainment.
First of all, we once again express our deep gratitude to UJUNG (WJSN’s fan club) at home and abroad who constantly love and support WJSN.
Starship Entertainment recently renewed the contracts with our artist WJSN’s eight members, Exy, Seola, Bona, Soobin, Eunseo, Yeoreum, Dayoung and Yeonjung.
We have had long sincere and thorough discussions with members Luda and Dawon, but unfortunately our exclusive contracts [avec Luda et Dawon] will come to an end.
We express our deepest gratitude for the great effort and dedication Luda and Dawon have shown so far. We respect Luda and Dawon’s decisions and will encourage and support their new activities and ways forward.
Also, regarding the three Yuehua Entertainment members Xuan Yi, Cheng Xiao, and Mei Qi who joined WJSN’s promotions, their contracts as WJSN ended automatically.
As for the members with whom we have renewed contracts based on our mutual loyalty and trust, we will devote all our efforts to the activities of WJSN and make the members shine more with their activities in various fields, and we promise not to hold back, giving our full and consistent support.
