3 Newbie Girl Groups from Small Agencies That Made a Big Impression
In the world of kpop, it’s rare for small agency groups to stand out and be hugely popular.
Of course it’s not impossible, and we don’t have a better example than BTS for this type of case, but the road to recognition from these groups is often more difficult than for those coming from big agencies.
When these groups gain popularity, it’s a real consecration for them and the fans. Recently, three girl groups have caught the attention of kpop fans.
Let’s find out who it is.
- TripleS
TripleS is a girl group under MODHAUS. They were introduced to the public through a pre-debut project that began in May 2022, with each of the members being revealed regularly. They debuted the mini-album Assemble on February 13, 2023.
As of January 18, 2023, 12 of the 24 members have been revealed.
They aim to be the world’s first decentralized K-pop idol group. Members will rotate between group, sub-unit and individual activities at the fans choice as they can participate and communicate with the group such as: B. Deciding on sub-units and content via NFT photocards called “Objects”.
The concept of the group is that the members have the “S” special ability and band together and demonstrate their skills across the “Dimension” and are recreated with new concepts each season.
Luckily, the uniqueness of their concept seems to have worked, as TripleS received a lot of fan attention and tripled their sales in the first week. The group has also received a lot of praise on social media for their concept, music and content.
- SPOTLIGHT
LIMELIGHT, stylized as LIMΞLIGHT, is a three-piece girl group under 143 Entertainment. They debuted the EP Love & Happiness on February 17, 2023.
LIMELIGHT shocked everyone by becoming the 6th highest charting debuting girl group.
Love & Happiness sold 35,961 units in 24 hours, meaning LIMELIGHT saw a 307% increase over its pre-debut sales. This success proves that in today’s K-pop scene, every group has a chance to succeed.
- FIFTY-FIFTY
FIFTY FIFTY is a four-piece girl group under ATTRAKT. They debuted their debut EP, The Fifty, on November 18, 2022.
Their group name “Fifty Fifty” means “50 vs. 50” and refers to a “50:50” probability of “ideal” versus “reality”.
Although relatively new to the scene, the GRAMMYs praised the quartet’s sound. They described the four tracks that make up the album as “amazing” and didn’t hesitate to compliment them.
“’Tell Me’ begins the journey with what could be the perfect indie soundtrack and quickly transitions into the synthpop of the pre-release ‘Lovin’ Me’ and the title track ‘Higher’. You are already convinced of the magical attraction of Fifty Fifty. » — GRAMMY
The group has also received a lot of love from fans on online platforms.
