Most K-Dramas only have one season, and it’s very rare that a sequel is generally planned.
However, some popular dramas are entitled to a sequel or part 2, to the delight of fans.
2023 will be a year that will therefore bring many sequels to much-loved and awaited dramas. Here are 10 of the most anticipated sequels coming out this year (we’re skipping the first season recap for the sake of spoilers).
- Squid Game 2 (more like 2024)
Squid Game revolves around a secret competition in which 456 players, all in dire financial straits, risk their lives to play a series of deadly children’s games in order to win 45.6 billion won.
- Arthdal Chronicles 2
In the mythical land of Arth, a power struggle erupts in the ancient city of Arthdal. Eun-Sum, a young man born in the Blue Stone Village, must overcome his curse that would destroy the town of Arthdal.
Meanwhile, Arthdal’s war hero, Ta-Gon, dreams of becoming the first king of Arthdal. Having won many wars during his illustrious career, Ta-Gon has established himself as the most powerful man in the land.
Born with the same curse as Eun-Sum, Tan-Ya is destined to become the successor of the Wahan tribe. Despite the difficulties and prejudices that Tan-Ya faces, she wants to become a politician.

“DP” is a Netflix series that tells the story of Jun Ho and Ho Yeol who hunt down deserters with different stories and face a reality they didn’t know.

dr Romantic is a drama that follows the stories of doctors working in a rural hospital.

Demon Catchers/The Uncanny Counter revolves around demon hunters who are noodle shop clerks by day and demon hunters by night.
In order to capture and drive away these demons who have returned to earth in search of eternal life, each of the members is endowed with a special ability.
- Poong, Joseon psychiatrist 2
Based on a novel, Poong’s second season, The Joseon Psychiatrist, Kim Min Jae will return for her role as the famous palace doctor.
- island 2
ISLAND is a fantasy action drama based on the popular webtoon of the same name. Set on the tropical island of Jeju in Korea, it follows the journey of characters fighting an evil force that is trying to destroy the world.

Cha Hyun-soo and a group of neighbors come together to face dangerous creatures bent on destroying civilization.

The series follows the story of Kim Do Gi. He was a special forces officer whose mother was murdered by a serial killer.
He spent his days in agony and was contacted by Rainbow Taxi CEO Jang Sung Chul to use his anger to help others who also share the same beliefs as him.
- The glory party 2
The Glory follows the revenge story of Moon Dong Eun, a victim of school violence. Years later, she returns to seek revenge on her tormentors.
